Discussion Topics reflect changes in the HRTC-DHSC Action Items below:
- Engage Opportunity Inc. http://www.opp-inc.org and Peninsula Council for Workforce Development http://www.pcfwd.org for workforce development advancement for HRTC-DHSC skills assessments and all levels of education/workforce development. Embrace and engage programs already well established in the region...not reinvent the wheel will shorten delivery cycle for workforce programs.
- Continue Seminar Series and offer throughout Hampton Roads Region
- Offer series in Hampton/Newport News at Peninsula Council for Workforce Development Verizon Center and Opportunity Inc. Facilities to expand audience participation for regional availability.
- Jerry Stewart to work with Don Bradway for location/dates etc.
- Flexibility in series offerings; winter, spring, summer, or fall
- Industry cluster encouraging STEM emphasis in K-18 Hampton Roads educational institutions life-cycle workforce development.
- Industry Internships/Apprentice Programs Partnership
- Promote DHS Industry Cluster and develop awareness of training programs:
- Industry Outreach to Middle School and High School Guidance Counselors
i. Tours of Industry assets in Hampton Roads such as: VASCIC, NASA Langley, Northrop Grumman Ship Building, Stihl, Virginia Port Authority
- Engage Governors School for Technical Education and VB ATC
- Engage local organizational/associations Industry Day events and Job Fairs
