TOPIC: Operational, Technical, and Policy Challenges With the Integration of UAS into Non-Segregated Civil Airspace.

Andrew Lacher is the Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) Airspace Integration Cross Center
Coordinator at The MITRE Corporation where he is responsible for coordinating MITRE’s
research and analysis related to the safe operation of UAS in civil airspace. He manages
MITRE’s independent research and development efforts related to UAS airspace integration
and helps contribute to MITRE’s overall NextGen research strategy. Mr. Lacher serves on a
number of industry committees, standards working groups, and external research advisory
committees. He has over 25 years of systems engineering experience mostly in the aviation
domain. Mr. Lacher will talk about the operational, technical, and policy challenges associated
with the routine integration of Unmanned Aircraft Systems into non-segregated civil airspace.
He will discuss alternative integration approaches and research opportunities for both the near
and far term. He will share some of the progress in the community and touch upon some of
MITRE’s projects.

These one day workshops provide in depth guidance on the DOD SBIR / STTR programs and are ideal for those new to the program as well as those who have participated in SBIR or STTR previously. We'll have a special discussion on the recent SBIR program reauthorization and how that will specifically impact current and future SBIR/STTR awards.

The DOD SBIR and STTR grant programs have over $1.3B available to fund early stage R&D projects based on the needs of each agency. DOD is different than all other agencies who have SBIR/STTR grants, and each DOD component is different. Learn how to tap into this valuable funding mechanism!

Event will be taught by Mr. John Davis of the SBIR Resource Center. March 7, 2012 (HERNDON, Va.) - The Center for Innovative Technology (CIT) announced today a $100,000 investment in Norfolk, Va.-based Harbinger Technology Solutions, LLC (HTS). HTS provides a web-based platform that helps financial institutions comply with increasingly complex reporting requirements promulgated by the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) and its international counterparts. ARCSys, HTS' online platform, brings a high level of automation to processes that have historically been done manually, and is designed to help clients address new and more complex reporting requirements. ARCSys' existing Allowance for Credit Losses (ACL) module allows clients to upload data from their core banking systems, process the relevant data to produce required reporting and disclosures, perform analysis and adjustments, and review historical trends. Virginia Beach, Virginia—January 31, 2012 – Electronic Systems, Inc. (ESI) announced today that Willard Page has joined the company as Director of Sales for the company’s Managed Print Services Division. In this role, Willard will be responsible for general management as well as overseeing the division’s sales activity throughout Virginia.

Willard has many years of experience in the digital print management industry, having most recently worked as a Branch Sales Manager with Konica Minolta in the Hampton Roads area. Previously, he was in public sector sales with Xerox, also covering Hampton Roads. Prior to joining Xerox, Willard held senior level positions in computer service, sales and support throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.

Willard majored in Music Education at Old Dominion and continued his studies in Business Administration. He will be based in the company’s Virginia Beach, Virginia office and will report to Anthony Lane, President of ESI’s Print Technology Group and Service and Supply Group.
