VISION & VALUES of the Defense and Homeland Security
Consortium
The
consortium's participating companies, sponsoring
regional Departments of Economic Development (DED) and individual
volunteers will participate in regional economic development activities
without duplicating or competing with other existing organizations.
Operating since 2004, DHSC is made up of volunteer representatives from
Hampton Roads businesses as well as organizations involved in economic,
educational and workforce development. The volunteers identify issues
that degrade the industry's overall effectiveness and leverage their
skills, contacts, leadership and initiative to develop and implement
improvement actions.
In
2007, DHSC merged the group with the Hampton Road Technology Council as
a way to move forward in a more regional capacity, leveraging the
existing infrastructure of HRTC, especially with respect to legislative
initiatives and connection to the existing communities of
interest such as sensors and modeling
simulation. Marketing efforts of "Pentagon South" are in full
support and supplemental of DED
strategies.
